The Works Pop-Up Choir

The Works Pop-Up Choir

This friendly, time-limited choir meets for 10 sessions this autumn. It's open to all and takes place in The Makerspace at Portland Works. This is a 150- year -old industrial building and the birthplace of stainless steel. It's still in use by local makers and craftspeople and is located in Little Sheffield, just behind London Rd. The Makerspace is the room where the buffer girls used to work and now it's a beautifully restored space with lots of ventilation and good acoustics for singing.

The choir will learn by ear and we'll sing work songs, songs about Sheffield and some local carols. There will be an option at the end of the run to perform at the Makers' Fair at Portland Works in December.

It meets on Mondays 4.30 - 6.30pm and starts on September 26th. There will be a break for half term so the complete list of dates is:

September 26
October 3,10,17,31
November 7,14,21,28
December 5

NB. This a heritage site which does not have lift access. The Makerspace is up one flight of stone stairs.
